I want to share a little about myself and my business Aurorealis Designs.
I started this business about 4 years ago, and it has changed a lot. I have spent a lot of time evolving and figuring out who I am and what I want to make as a designer. I found that jewelry has inspired me to make many other things as well. I am a lover of learning and creating. I think it is so important to push yourself and grow as an artist, you really evolve and learn so much about yourself. I have dabbled in things from painting, macrame, headpieces to sewing. I feel the sky's the limit and I want to go with whatever inspires me at the time. As an artist things can get stale, there are times you don't want to do ANYTHING. I think that you should honor that, if you want to take a break and just breath, you should do it. You can't and shouldn't be a robot, yes you should try to push yourself but there's always a limit. I have embraced that feeling more than once, and explored other creative routes. This has given me more insight on what I like, and what directions I would like to go in. So, if you are out there stuck, or maybe wanting to start an endeavor, I say go with it! If you are stuck that's ok, just let it work itself out, go to a museum, take a walk, meditate. It will only be temporary, and maybe you just need some "you" time. If you are looking to get started, fear is your worst enemy. Do not let it get the best of you before you start. What is the worst thing that can happen, you make a mistake? Well mistakes are vital parts of the learning and creating process. I was very afraid to start things due to perfectionism, well you will have to get over that or you will never do anything for fear of making a mistake. That in itself is the worst mistake you can make. Here is a quote I always go back to;
"Don't be afraid to fail, be afraid not to try."
So go out there, take a class, take a hike, or for real watch a movie and don't think. Whatever is on your mind go with it and know it's apart of your journey, enjoy it.
Love and light to you my friends,
